Clacton Shopping Village is delighted to host AB-Drive Anchor’s exclusive young driver experience, giving teenagers and nervous beginners the chance to learn essential driving skills in a safe, private, off-road environment.
Whether you’re aged 15–17 and looking for a head start, or you’re 17+ and feeling nervous about starting driving lessons, this is the perfect opportunity to build confidence before heading out onto the road.
🚘 Your 30-Minute Driving Experience
Each participant will enjoy a one-to-one session with a fully qualified driving instructor in a dual-controlled automatic or manual vehicle. With the instructor having their own set of controls, you can relax and learn at your own pace in a safe and supportive environment.
During your session, you’ll learn key driving skills including:
✅ Moving off and accelerating smoothly
✅ Braking and clutch control
✅ Steering techniques
✅ Correct road positioning
✅ Traffic sign recognition
✅ Advanced skills such as reverse parking

Teen Drivers (Ages 15–17)
A fantastic way to get an early introduction to driving, helping you develop confidence and understand the basics before you can legally drive on public roads.
Anxious Beginners (17+)
If you’re nervous about starting lessons, this relaxed, off-road experience provides the perfect first step towards becoming a confident driver.

There’s more to enjoy at Clacton Shopping Village on the day, including a fun competition where visitors could win a fantastic driving prize!
A classic Mini will be filled with helium balloons, and shoppers are invited to guess how many balloons are inside for the chance to win a £200 driving lesson voucher, generously provided by AB-Drive Anchor.
The lucky winner will receive five driving lessons, with the choice of learning in either a manual or automatic vehicle — the perfect opportunity to build confidence and start their driving journey.
Plenty More Happening
There’s plenty more happening throughout the day, with road safety professionals, emergency services and driving experts on hand to share advice and answer questions. You’ll be able to meet teams from Essex Police, Essex Fire and Rescue, the East of England Ambulance Service, Transport Made Simple and Essex Highways.
There will also be Learn to Ride sessions from Essex Pedal Power for children looking to build their confidence on two wheels, with adult sessions available too.
