We’re excited to launch Summer Sounds, a brand-new live music series at Clacton Shopping Village!

Every Saturday from 28 June through 30 August, enjoy performances from local musicians as part of your visit.

It’s the first time we’re bringing regular live music to the Village, adding something fresh to your weekend visit. Expect a mix of genres and styles, with a different line-up each week, from acoustic sets to bands and instrumentalists.

Performances will take place at intervals throughout the day, creating a lively atmosphere across the Village all summer long.

Saturday 28th June | Rayne and Brett Smerald

Rayne – 11am

We’re pleased to kick off Summer Sounds with Rayne, welcoming her back to the Village. Her debut EP Uncovered (previously featured on BBC Essex radio), marks a deeply personal journey, offering honest songwriting and space for others to feel seen and heard.

Brett Smerald – 1pm

Hey, my name is Brett Smerald from the U.K. I play original acoustic instrumentals so  you might drift off into a fantasy land lol. I have developed my own style of playing, which includes some heavy, alternative, melodic influences.

Saturday 5th July | June Bear

June Bear – 11:30am & 1pm

June Bear is a solo acoustic musician playing pop and indie covers and originals. She combines resonant lyrics with delicate vocals creating songs that are both intimate and expansive.

Saturday 12th July | Jayden Wells

Jayden Wells – 11am & 12:40pm

Jayden Wells is a Singing Guitarist based here in Clacton! Bringing new life and style to arrangements of your favourite covers, Jayden doesn’t just preserve the music for what it is but he adds his own character over the strings. And if you weren’t already gripped by his guitar excellence, then the gripping vocals to accompany the six string will do it. He has also been known to throw in a few of his own original tunes. Jayden is not someone you want to miss!

Saturday 19th July | Codi Rox (Moved to 2nd August due to weather)

Codi Rox – 11am & 1pm

Codi Rox is a rising acoustic singer-songwriter from Clacton, bringing over 10 months of live gigging, busking, and performance experience. With her soulful acoustic rock twist on classics from Nirvana, Green Day, Guns N’ Roses, and more, Codi creates a laid-back vibe perfect for all to enjoy. She also puts her spin on timeless tracks from artists like Coldplay, P!nk, Amy Winehouse, and Siouxsie and the Banshees.

As a songwriter, Codi draws inspiration from her life and hometown, with original songs like “I’m the Vixen” and her powerful debut single “Fears of the Whispers”out now on all major streaming platforms.

Saturday 26th July | A Light Left On

A Light Left On – 11am & 1pm

Upbeat & light hearted original duo from Sunny Clacton on Sea recently showcased at the Montreux Jazz Cafe in London & featured on 6music by Tom Robinson. The duo have received high praise for their writing from the likes of BBC Essex DJ’s Veena V; Tony Fisher & Sue Marchant from BBC Radio Cambridge.

They have been described as ‘melodic acoustic folk with striking lead guitar, subtle strings and blissful harmony’ by the Musician’s Union. They have played live on Live London TV and are well known regulars on the ‘Busk in London’ circuit and play many of the artisan markets such as Depford & Limehouse.

Veterans of over 1000 concerts they have appeared at many of the UK’s festivals including Thamesmead, Latitude & Aldebugh as well as gaining several residencies in high profile venues across the UK. Recently they went international to play the prestigious Freight & Salvage venue in San Francisco; Nashville’s Commodore and Norway’s Glenghuset & even got a track ‘Bayonet’ played on the BBC world service.

Their material has been used in several independent films & they currently have a EP ‘Cathedral of Shadows’ out now that features Ben Gordelier on drums (from Paul Weller’s band) which has been featured on many high profile Spotify playlists including ‘Baked Sunset Vibes’.
